Seit mehr als drei Jahren ist DAB+ in Österreich empfangbar, aktuell mit 16 nationalen und 15 lokalen Radiosendern in Wien und Umgebung. Einmal jährlich gibt der Digitalradioverein Österreich eine Ipsos Marktforschungsstudie zur Bekanntheits- und Reichweitenmessung von DAB+ in Auftrag. Bereits 2021 hatte DAB+ rund 600.000 HörerInnen und auch die aktuellen Zahlen bestätigen, dass DAB+ in Österreich das Radio der Zukunft ist.
Befragt wurde eine repräsentative Gruppe von 2.900 in Österreich lebenden Menschen im Alter zwischen 15 und 70 Jahren. Erstmals erhoben wurden auch das Nutzungsverhalten und die Geräteverfügbarkeit. Die Erhebung der Ergebnisse erfolgte anonym über CATI (Computer Assisted Telephone Interview) und CAWI (Computer Assisted Web Interviewing). Hier haben wir einige Highlights für Sie zusammengefasst:
Immer mehr Menschen ist DAB+ ein Begriff
Fast die Hälfte der Menschen in Österreich kennen mittlerweile den Begriff DAB+. Im Vergleich dazu waren es 2020 nur 43%. Die meisten (4 von 10) erfahren im Internet von Digitalradio, viele auch im Radio oder Autoradio (3 von 10).
Immer mehr Menschen hören Radio via DAB+
Bereits 22% der Menschen in Österreich haben schon einmal Radio über DAB+ gehört. 870.000 Menschen hören zumindest einmal im Monat DAB+, 75% davon auch öfter. Das entspricht österreichweit 16% der Bevölkerung.
Immer mehr DAB+ Empfangsgeräte
25% der Menschen in Österreich besitzen bereits ein DAB+ fähiges Empfangsgerät, der Großteil davon sind Autoradios. Seit 2021 gab es rund 300.000 Neuzulassungen von Pkws mit DAB+ fähigem Radio.
Immer mehr kennen die Vorteile
An DAB+ schätzen die meisten Nutzer den besseren Empfang, den rauschfreien Klang und die Sender- und Programmvielfalt.

Current study on DAB+ shows increasing usage and awareness in Austria
- In Austria, DAB+ already has 870,000 monthly listeners.
- 75% of DAB+ listeners listen several times a month, this corresponds to 16% of the Austrian population.
DAB+ has been available in Austria for more than three years. Currently there are 16 national and 15 local radio stations in Vienna and the surrounding areas. Once a year, the Austrian Digital Radio Association commissions an Ipsos market research study to measure awareness and reach of DAB+. DAB+ already had around 600,000 listeners in 2021, and the current figures also confirm that DAB+ is the “radio of the future” in Austria.
For the study, a representative group of 2,900 people between the ages of 15 and 70 living in Austria were surveyed. User behavior and device availability were also surveyed for the first time. The results were collected anonymously via CATI (Computer Assisted Telephone Interview) and CAWI (Computer Assisted Web Interviewing). We have summarized some of the highlights for you:
More people are familiar with DAB+
Almost half of the people in Austria are now familiar with the term DAB+, whereas it was still only 43% in 2020. Most people (4 out of 10) hear about DAB+ on the Internet, many also on the radio or car radio (3 out of 10).

25% of people in Austria already own a DAB+ capable receiver, the majority of which are car radios. Since 2021 there have been around 300,000 new registrations of cars with DAB+ capable radio.

Most users appreciate the better reception, the noise-free sound and the variety of stations and programs onDAB+.
